Proud to be Southern

I am proud to be from the South - where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; mac and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come w/ gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. Have a good day y'all!

Let me know if you're Southern to the bone too!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Be kind to one another.  Pray for Japan and all the people hurting in the world.  Do one kind thing today for someone .... just because you can.  Watch it all come back to you.

  1. Hey, Sunshine...

I am SO glad to be Southern!!! All in all, I do believe people to be kinder... nicer... down here.

My Mom could talk about someone and say, 'Bless his/her heart...' and it sounded SO warm and caring. When I say it, I think it comes across as my being a bit of a smart ass... imagine that!!! ;o)

Re: the people in Japan.. yes! What a horror that is. The effects of the tsunami appear to be worse than that of the earthquake.

I've heard that some 'scientists' are blaming this on global warming... An earthquake? On Global Warming??

Oh well... have a great weekend, you!!

  2. I don't have a Southern bone in my body -- NYC born and bred, lived in Michigan for 30+ years. Ancestors are all from Northern Europe and Canada, too! Sweet tea is too syrupy, even though I have a sweet tooth; but I could die a happy girl if fried chicken, biscuits 'n' gravy, mac 'n' cheese, and pecan pie were my last meal!

  4. Well I'm from the midwest, but if mac and cheese is considered a veggie, I need to relocate!
